There are several processes you can use to create beautiful silk scarves.

For workshops and parties I like to use the Microwave to fix the dyes. The colours are placed in a random way to create wonderful abstract patterns.

To paint on silk with more control, it has to be stretched on a frame. A scarf needs a rectangular frame slightly larger than the material - and this can be custom made or adapted from a strong picture frame.

Once stretched, there are many different techniques which can be used If salt grains are scattered over wet dye, they create a beautiful textured effect.
